Cry For Me Louisiana

Louisiana is my home and I love it here. The diverse culture, people, and food make Louisiana a beautiful place to live and work. Natural wonders and wildlife are everywhere and I appreciate their beauty as I drive around Metairie and throughout the state. Unfortunately, our Louisiana is disappearing.

Hurricane Katrina opened my eyes as well as other residents to the importance of our fragile and disappearing coastline. The wetlands are a beautiful habitat for wild birds and animals, but they are also a vast protection network against hurricanes and tidal surges. Hurricane Katrina sped up the erosion process and just as we were starting to rebuild our coastlines the BP oil spill occurred. I love our state and I want to help preserve it for future generations.

Since I am an artist and a mother of a young child, I thought the best way I can help our wetlands is to create an artwork that would reflect the beauty of the wetlands and the wildlife that lives there. I have finished this artwork in September 2010 and I have named it Cry for me Louisiana. This artwork has been digitized professionally proofed, and the first prints have been ordered. A partnership request with the American Wetlands has been requested and is in process. I am estimating a release date of October 30, 2010 for the sale of this particular artwork.
